Chief Medical Officer
**Responsibilities** The primary role of this position is to provide skilled management and strategic leadership functions for the Hospital that result in effective planning, monitoring of the quality of patient care, resource utilization across all departments, and service line development. This position provides physician oversight over activities such as Quality Management, patient safety, patient experience, Medical Staff Office, fostering a positive relationship with medical staff, and other duties as assigned. This individual shall assume a facilitative role in assisting the president of the medical staff, its officers, and department chairs in carrying out their responsibilities. Sets policies and procedures and ensures all services meet the organization's objectives. **Responsibities** + Works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to maintain the highest standards of quality and service. + Oversees implementing quality improvement efforts to improve clinical performance and maintain compliance with TJC, HIPAA, and other accreditation standards. Participates in developing and implementing quality initiatives, including patient access and satisfaction, provider satisfaction, clinical outcomes, process improvement, and guideline development. + Works within the service area network to identify and evaluate outstanding physicians and physician groups for participation in the provider network. + Participates in strategic and business plan development, including identifying strategic partners, growth, and resource allocation. **Competencies** + Patient/Customer Focus- Ensuring that the patient/customer perspective drives our actions and business decisions; crafting and implementing service practices that meet patients'/customers' and our organization’s needs. Resolving issues and problems, and making a significant contribution to team efforts. + Clinical Policies and Standards- Knowledge of all clinical standards and policies set for a healthcare environment; ability to use industry standards, policies, and procedures in clinical practice processes. + Medical Trends and Directions- Knowledge of major medical initiatives, directions, discoveries, industry issues, and considerations; ability to use this information to support healthcare organizational goals. + Healthcare Center Operations- Knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a healthcare center; ability to use this knowledge to ensure the healthcare center's performance is efficient and effective. + Strategic Thinking- Understanding the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning, and applying organizational acumen to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization. + Healthcare Policy and Ethics Compliance - HNU- Knowledge of healthcare policies for all clinical practices and applicable laws and regulations governing proper clinical practice; ability to demonstrate ethical behavior in diverse situations. **Qualifications** **Experience** : Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in the specialty. Minimum of five years (5) of management experience in health care. **Education** : Medical degree or DO degree with an active medical license. **Licensure:** A current, active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in at least one US state or territory and prior (or current) Board Certification in a specialty are required. If the physician is clinically active, the license must be in the state where the assigned facility operates, and the Board Certification must be current.
