Clinical Coding Documentation Quality Specialist RN

**Responsibilities**
Responsible for reviewing and evaluating clinical records to determine accuracy and integrity of coding outcome versus clinical documentation and compliance with coding regulations and guidelines. Independently uses knowledge of clinical medicine, clinical documentation, and quality reporting rules and procedures to provide a second level review of codes assigned to a clinical episode of care, ensuring that medical codes assigned conform to legal and procedural requirements. Works collaboratively with coding specialists to assure that coding outcomes accurately reflect the clinical episode and the provider documentation of the diagnoses, treatments, and procedures related to the episode of care. Identifies opportunities to improve clinical documentation and coding procedures based on trending data of outcomes, and uses knowledge of systems and procedures to collaboratively work to improve outcomes. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. **Qualifications**
**Required Education and Experience**
**At least 5 years experience in quality improvement and/or inpatient clinical documentation improvement, with knowledge of ICD-10 and chart abstraction methodology. Associate's Degree**
**Required Licensure and Certifications**
**Current California RN License**
**Preferred Education and Experience**
**Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Field**
