**Job Summary**
The Clinical Placement Assistant supports the coordination of patient transfers and placements across facilities, ensuring efficient, timely, and safe transitions of care. This role facilitates communication among referring facilities, physicians, and hospital staff to support placement decisions based on clinical needs, facility capabilities, and bed availability. The Clinical Placement Assistant plays a key role in ensuring accurate data collection, regulatory compliance, and positive outcomes through effective coordination, critical thinking, and collaboration.
**Essential Functions**
+ Supports the coordination of emergent, urgent, and elective patient transfers across facilities by gathering relevant clinical information and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
+ Utilizes systems and tools to accurately match patient clinical needs with facility capabilities and bed availability in accordance with established protocols.
+ Communicates with referring facilities, physicians, and internal teams to support transfer approval and bed assignment.
+ Maintains accurate and concurrent data entry across relevant systems, including bed management and referral tracking tools.
+ Assists with patient placement by collaborating closely with Bed Coordinators and other placement team members.
+ Escalates complex cases or delays appropriately through the chain of command.
+ Participates in virtual or in-person bed management meetings and provides timely updates on capacity and coordination issues.
+ Provides excellent customer service through professional and responsive communication with all stakeholders.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ H.S. Diploma or GED required
+ Associate Degree preferred
+ 1-3 years of experience in administrative support, coordination, or scheduling roles in a healthcare or similar environment required
+ 1-3 years of experience in the medical field, transfer coordination, or patient access preferred
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
+ Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including EMTALA and HIPAA, and an understanding of care transition workflows.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, email, scheduling platforms, and healthcare systems.
+ Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
+ Customer service mindset with a commitment to quality and safety.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
