Delay Performance Specialist

As the Delay Performance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the Air Passenger Protection regulations (APPR) compliance of the entire Air Canada Network and aligning them with the relevant legal framework. Your responsibilities will include and ensuring accurate delay coding across the Air Canada network, identifying trends and providing recommendations on corrective action aimed at enhancing the accuracy and compliance of APPR and delay codes. Also serving as the day-of subject matter expert in APPR and the delay coding process, you will leverage your expertise to drive improvements and ensure precision and accuracy of delay coding.

Responsibilities\:

Responsible for assuring accuracy of all Mainline, Rouge and Regional Delay and Cancellation coding/commenting to APPR standards including\:
Oversight of Live Delay Coding/ Commenting with SOC, Regionals, and Airports team Globally on a day-of basis. 
Point of contact for any questions for discrepancies in Delay Coding 
Review, daily flight schedule to assure all flights coded/comments to APPR standards 
Integrate within the SOC Planning Unit to prepare for and assist with irregular operations and provide decision-making support to stations and operations as it relates to Delay/Cancellation coding. 
Identify irregular operations and proactively send memos to stations to advise on the appropriate delay coding to be applied.
Conduct comprehensive verification of the accuracy of delay and cancellation codes within the Network.  
Investigate and assign root cause of every flight delay and cancellation at a flight level for all AC Carriers including but not limited to collaborating with various operational branches, reviewing commenting and discussing with local stations. 
Organize and save all external/internal files provided by SMEs to support assessment of delays or cancellations for litigation.
Track and identify trends for delay/cancellation coding and escalate findings to the Delay Performance Manager. 
Educate the Operations on appropriate delay coding and related APPR compliance.
Provides support to the Delay Performance and System Ops Resolution Manager to investigate/report on Customer Relations/Legal and provide relevant information pertaining to cases that develop into litigation.
Perform a verification of an On-time Performance Report for Transport Canada.

* Post-secondary degree or diploma. Focus on Aviation Studies as an asset.
2 years Airline Operations or equivalent experience an asset.
Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to constantly changing operational situations, make decisions, and meet deadlines.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment, while managing multiple tasks/initiatives, prioritizing, and making effective decisions. 
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft computer systems applications\: Excel, SharePoint. 
Proven problem-solving skills within a team environment.
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills. 
Available to work a flexible work schedule that includes days, evenings, statutory holidays, weekends and overnight shifts.
Preference given to applicants with knowledge of airline applications currently in use, e.g. Netline Ops, Netline Crew, TRAX, WSI Fusion, LIDO, Flight Briefer, Communicator, SmartLoad, SmartSuite, Aircom, Knowledge of APPR principals and guidelines considered an asset.
Preferred qualifications include a strong knowledge of IATA coding methodology and ability to understand delay coding methodologies.
