Mobility Assistant Medical Oncology PRN

Job Description:

The Mobility Assistant aids in safe patient transfers, mobility and exercise using approved assistive devices, lifts, and procedures under the supervision of nursing or therapy staff.

Essential Functions

Ensures patient safety by properly executing mobility plans and standard procedures, using appropriate equipment and methods for patient transfer, mobility, and exercise.

Follows all standard operating procedures and protocols, including chain of command authorizations, nurse sign-off, patient identification, and confidentiality.

Consistently adheres to universal precautions and department infection control procedures.

Identifies patient conditions and statuses that may affect mobility sessions, documenting patient status, progress, and tolerance to mobility interactions on approved forms.

Documents mobility activities per care site guidelines (EHR or paper).

Demonstrates competency in using safe patient handling and mobility technology, patient mobilization techniques, and proper body mechanics.

Provides safe mobility with a goal of progressing to mobility three times/day, ensuring patients are never left unattended during sessions.

Identifies environmental factors and potential safety hazards, taking appropriate action to address them.

Physical Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

Successfully complete the mobility assistant training program and receive sign-off on competencies/audited skills within two (2) weeks of hire.

Complete Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers within two (2) weeks of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Enrolled in a pre-healthcare professional curriculum, RN, CNA, PT, OT, COTA, or PTA program within a CTE high school medical pathway program or other.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers

Demonstrated experience working or volunteering in a customer service or patient facing role.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$16.83 - $21.88
