PRN Special Projects Technician

The PRN (as needed) Special Projects Technician is responsible for the execution of a wide range of construction, renovation, and maintenance projects throughout the facility. This role demands a versatile skill set, encompassing carpentry, drywall installation and repair, painting, flooring installation, casework installation, and general construction tasks. The technician will independently manage and complete projects, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to established timelines. This position requires a proactive problem-solver with a strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt to diverse project requirements.
**This is a PRN position and will work on an as needed basis.**
**Responsibilities:**
**Construction and Renovation:**
Construct, install, and repair walls, partitions, and other structural elements using wood, metal, and other materials.
Install and repair sheetrock/drywall, including framing, hanging, taping, and finishing.
Build and install custom casework, countertops, and shelving units.
Install and repair various types of flooring, including tile, laminate, vinyl, and carpet.
Install wall protection systems and other protective fixtures.
Painting and Finishing:
Prepare surfaces for painting, including patching, sanding, and priming.
Apply paint, stains, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.
Perform touch-up and repair work as needed.
**General Maintenance and Repair:**
Maintain and repair tools and equipment.
Ensure work areas are clean and organized.
**Project Management:**
Interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine project requirements.
Estimate materials and labor costs.
Manage project timelines and ensure timely completion.
Coordinate with other technicians and departments as needed.
**Safety and Compliance:**
Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
**Other Duties:**
Assist other technicians with general maintenance activities as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications:**
Proven experience in general construction, carpentry, drywall, painting, and flooring installation.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
